On the Great Emu Tour, Nugal-warra Elder and story-teller, Willie Gordon, takes you to three rock art sites, including the Rainbow Serpent and Great Emu Caves. Here he explains the significance of the paintings and the stories behind the art, giving you a unique insight into Aboriginal society and spirituality.

Those self-driving to the Nugal rock art sites will be provided with a map to the Guurrbi Tours’ meeting point outside Hope Vale, where you will be met by Willie. (Please note that the sites are not signed, and can only be visited with a Nugal-warra guide.) From the meeting point Willie guides you along an off-road track to the entrance of the sites, where you leave your vehicle and continue on foot. The tour is suitable for most ages: there is a short climb to one of the sites, but overall very little walking is involved.
